Bright white light - ideal for many accent lighting applications. Dimmable with standard incandescent dimmers. Long life 12V lamps included with each puck light. Frosted, glare free glass lens diffuses light evenly. Recess or surface mount. Build your own system with single pucks and a variety of transformer capacities. Easy to install kits - 2 and 3 light kits include a pre-wired plug-in transformer. Can I run 12V Puck light lead wires through drywall? Answer: Most electrical codes do not allow this type of installation, but to be sure, please consult the National Electrical Code (NEC) and state and local electrical codes. Can the 12V Puck Light be used as an uplight or above cabinet light? Answer: No, UL regulations require that you mount puck lights horizontally to a wooden surface and use only for downward illumination. Can the 12V Puck Lights be dimmed? Answer: Yes, with most incandescent dimmers. (Consult transformer specifications for more information.) What is the minimum distance between the 12V Pucks? Answer: 12” is the minimum spacing required between puck lights and no closer than 2” from any wall of the cabinet. Can the 12V Pucks be mounted in an enclosed area? Answer: Yes, provided that the cabinet has a minimum depth of 7” and a height and width that are at least 12”. Will the 12V Puck lights be as bright as 120V? Answer: Yes, in fact 12V Xenon and Halogen Puck lights are slightly brighter than corresponding 120V puck lights. The brightest puck lights available are 12V (plastic) Xenon Puck Lights due to the highly specular reflector. Can the 12V Puck Lights be recessed mounted? Answer: Yes, but UL regulations mandate the product be recessed into wood surfaces only (no drywall). Some of my puck lights are brighter than others. Why is this? Answer: Puck lights must be within 10 feet of the transformer to avoid voltage drop. If a puck light is located further than 10 feet from the transformer, you will see a noticeable difference in light output, compared to those that are in closer proximity to the transformer. Can Puck lights be hardwired? Answer: Yes, American Lighting offers hardwire transformers in a variety of wattage capacities for those applications that require the product to be direct wired. How many puck lights can be wired to one transformer? Answer: The number of pucks that can be wired together is limited by the load capacity of the transformer.
